Ur Sonata at 100

A performance-workshop presented by Andrew Laties, author of Living Ur Sonata: Conjuring Kurt Schwitters to Transcend Authority and Seize the Hour.

OPTION A

1)   “Ur Sonata at 100”—a 40-minute slideshow teaching students about Ur Sonata and its creator, 100 years ago: Kurt Schwitters.

2)   “Ur Sonata’s Structure and 18 Themes”—a 20-minute workshop preparing these students to perform Ur Sonata.

Later the same day:

3)   “Sonata in Primeval Sounds, or Ur Sonata”—the students join Andrew Laties in hosting a 45-minute participatory singalong with the general public.

 

OPTION B

1)   “Ur Sonata at 100”—a 30-minute slideshow teaching students about Ur Sonata and its creator, 100 years ago: Kurt Schwitters.

Later the same day:

2)   “Ur Sonata’s Structure and 18 Themes”—a 20-minute workshop preparing students to perform Ur Sonata. (Presented immediately prior to public performance.)

3)   “Sonata in Primeval Sounds, or Ur Sonata”—the students join Andrew Laties in hosting a 45-minute participatory singalong with the general public.

 

OPTION C

1)   “Ur Sonata at 100”—a 20-minute slideshow, presented multiple times, for several different groups of students, teaching about Ur Sonata and its creator, 100 years ago: Kurt Schwitters. Students are invited/recruited to come and join today’s public performance.

Later the same day:

2)   “Ur Sonata’s Structure and 18 Themes”—a 20-minute workshop preparing students to perform Ur Sonata. (Presented immediately prior to public performance.)

3)   “Sonata in Primeval Sounds, or Ur Sonata”—students join Andrew Laties in hosting a 45-minute participatory singalong with the general public.
